Taxonomic definition A supreme intercostal vein is a subdivision of brachiocephalic vein [divisio venae brachiocephalicae ] which is in fact the first posterior intercostal vein [vena intercostalis posterior ] with a different name, it drains the first intercostal space [spatium intercostale].
Notes
The Vena intercostalis suprema drains blood from the first intercostal space to the brachiocephalic vein on both sides.
